Looking to get into computers? Here is my guide!

If you're getting into building your computers or creating software, this is the guide for you!

If you're just getting started in the world of computers, I strongly suggest dipping your feet into both the software and hardware sides of the computer world. It helps to understand how computers work for software engineers, especially if you use the coding language C. On the flip side, understanding software can help you design better components that can integrate software seamlessly and allow you to troubleshoot and test your own hardware.

If you're starting with software, I strongly suggest learning a language like Python first. Python is simple and easy to understand, and there are many great tutorials on YouTube that cover most of the basics! Once you master one programming language, learning more languages becomes easier and faster. I started with Python, which helped me learn other languages a lot quicker since the main ideas are similar.

Starting with hardware? Understanding the components of each part of a computer is the main hurdle in learning how computers work. There can be many acronyms and jargon that might be hard to understand, but don't let that scare you away! There are many helpful videos explaining each part. Building a computer or designing hardware can be very exciting and also tedious. I started with the fundamental concepts like voltage, current, resistance, and power. I never knew how to read circuit diagrams, but it is a necessity if you're more hardware-oriented!

In a nutshell, learning both sides of the world of computers can deeply benefit your skills in your field. By gaining knowledge in both hardware and software, you develop a more comprehensive understanding of technology, which can lead to innovative solutions and more effective problem-solving. Whether you end up focusing on software or hardware, this dual perspective will make you more versatile and valuable in the tech industry.
